Queensland Museum Kurilpa inspires curiosity and deepens learning beyond the classroom. Our specially designed school programs, hands-on STEM experiences, and world-class exhibitions bring the curriculum to life. Students will explore Queensland's rich biodiversity, natural heritage, history, culture and STEM, in ways that spark discovery, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Bookings

Bookings are essential for school group visits. This is to ensure that our staff are available to meet and assist your group, and that you have access to exhibitions and experiences. Please book early to secure preferred times.

A minimum of 10 students is required for SparkLab and exhibitions; a minimum of 20 is required for facilitated programs.

  • A deposit is required to secure your visit and will be deducted from your final invoice.
  • Cancellations must be made at least 14 days (30 days for Museum Meet Up program) before your visit to avoid full payment.

Costs & Payment

  • General museum entry: Free
  • Facilitated school programs: Prices vary, supervising adults within ratio are free. A minimum payment for 20 students applies. Visit What’s On for prices.
  • SparkLab: $11 per student (groups of 10+). Supervising adults within ratio are free, additional adults charged concession price.
  • Exhibitions & events: Prices vary, minimum payment for 10 students applies. Visit What’s On for prices.
  • Please be aware that all prices are subject to change.

Payment
After booking a paid experience, you will receive a deposit invoice. Your booking is not secured until your deposit has been paid. The deposit for paid experiences is $90 or 20% of the estimated total booking value, whichever is greater. You will be advised of the value of the deposit at the time of your booking. The deposit value will be deducted from your final invoice. 

You will be contacted 10 business days before your visit (or four weeks for Museum Meet Up programs) to confirm your final student numbers. A final invoice will then be issued before your visit for the confirmed number of attendees.

Confirmation
Your booking is confirmed only when you have paid your deposit. If you do not receive an email within 5 working days, please contact the Booking Officer.

Notice of cancellation
We require at least 14 days' notice (30 days for Museum Meet Up) prior to the visit when cancelling. Cancellations received less than 14 days prior to the visit may result in full payment. Cancellations must be made in writing via email.

Payment FAQs

No. Refunds are not provided for reduced numbers. You will be invoiced based on the final numbers confirmed, or the minimum chargeable number (10 students for exhibitions, or 20 for facilitated programs), whichever is greater.

We will do our best to accommodate additional students; however, this depends on capacity availability – please check with our Bookings Officer before your visit. Any additional students will be charged, and an additional invoice will be issued.

Yes. You may move your booking to another date in the same calendar year if you provide at least 6 weeks’ notice. Your deposit will be retained and transferred to the new booking. Date changes requested with less than 6 weeks’ notice will follow the cancellation fee schedule.

Free visit for teachers

Teachers can arrange a free preview of the museum, including free entry to SparkLab, prior to their visit to plan and prepare for their group's learning experience. Complete our online form now to register your interest.

Teacher previews of our Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends exhibition are handled separately. To book a free preview, please register via QTIX.

Please note that accompanying guests will require their own ticket/s to either exhibition.
