Frequently Asked Questions

Queensland Museum Rail Workshops was severely damaged by the hailstorm on 26 October 2025. The site is closed for safety while assessments and repairs take place.

Our team is working with QBuild and other agencies to assess the damage and plan repairs. Updates will be shared as they become available.

Unfortunately, Day Out With Thomas: The Party Tour (27 December 2025 – 26 January 2026) has been cancelled. This was not an easy decision, as we understand the importance of this event for our community. However, the safety of our visitors and staff remains our top priority.

Protecting our collection is also a priority. Significant items are being moved to secure offsite or alternate onsite locations to keep them safe during repairs.

Follow the Queensland Museum website and social media channels for the latest updates. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to restore the museum.

All Annual Pass holders will be automatically extended to cover the duration of the closure, so you won’t miss a moment when we reopen. In the meantime, Queensland Museum Cobb+Co in Toowoomba have offered FREE entry to all Queensland Museum Rail Workshops Annual Pass Holders for the duration of our closure. Simply present your Annual Pass at the front counter when you arrive and explore all Queensland Museum Cobb+Co has to offer with interactive displays, exhibitions and more.
