Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends

Walk alongside one of the planet’s most powerful and fascinating animals, on a journey stretching back over 130 million years. This interactive all-ages exhibition will bring you face-to-face with the mighty crocodile.
From ancient ‘supercrocs’ that once roamed with dinosaurs to the unique crocodile species living across the world today, Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends explores the science, culture and enduring connections between people and these remarkable creatures.
Crocodiles survived the dinosaurs, evolved and made their mark on culture, fascinating humans from early First Nations’ stories to Hollywood blockbusters of today. Where does the legend and the myth meet reality?
Experts from Queensland Museum, the Australian National Maritime Museum and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory have created this world premiere exhibition. With activities for all ages, you can expect:
- Close encounters with stunning croc models and interactive exhibits including Sarcosuchus, a 130-million-year-old crocodilian.
- Life-sized prehistoric giants and dramatic fossil displays.
- Engaging challenges that test your knowledge of life in croc country.
- Bold and beautiful artworks sharing First Nations connections to Sea Country.
- Global perspectives on crocodiles in culture, design, and tradition.
- Real-world tools used by crocodile researchers and conservationists.

Relaxed hours
Visit during Relaxed Hours every Monday afternoon from 2pm. We’re turning the sound down and reducing session capacity for a more relaxed exhibition experience. We welcome guests on the autism spectrum and anyone who would benefit from a less busy setting to experience Croc!.
Season passes
A limited number of exhibition Season Passes are available through QTIX. You can also purchase a season pass, or upgrade your exhibition ticket to a season pass, at the museum ticket desks.
Season passes provide unlimited entry to the exhibition during opening hours. During peak times you may need to queue for a short time before entry. During relaxed hours and sensory friendly sessions, the exhibition audio visual content and volume will be reduced. From 3 March to 15 September 2026, the exhibition is closed until midday on select dates for exclusive use by school groups.

Term 2: Wednesdays from 22 April to 24 June 2026
Term 3: Tuesdays from 14 July to 15 September 2026

Croc! is a museum exhibition and does not feature live animals.
Allow up to 90 minutes to experience the exhibition and longer to explore everything Queensland Museum Kurilpa has to offer.
This is an all-ages exhibition. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a carer or guardian.
Photography is permitted for personal use only, no commercial photography. No flash, tripods or selfie sticks please.

Season Pass holders do not need to book specific entry times – simply visit the museum with your Season Pass ready to show at the exhibition entry. Experts from Queensland Museum, the Australian National Maritime Museum and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory created this world premiere exhibition. There are staff contributions and collection objects from all three museums, as well as from First Nations artists and communities across Queensland, external organisations, academics, researchers and other Government departments.

Exclusive Access for Schools
New in 2026, exclusive access for schools to Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends on dedicated days in Terms 1 – 3, 2026. Visit the exhibition as a self-led experience or book a facilitated program with a Croc! Guide to discover even more Croc fun and facts.
- Term 1: Tuesdays (from Week 6, 3 March 2026)
- Term 2: Wednesdays
- Term 3: Tuesdays
Self-led bookings are available outside of the Exclusive Access for Schools hours, however the exhibition will also be open to the general public during these times.
Bookings:
Bookings are essential for all school and children’s group visits.
- Self-led: $15 per student for pre-booked groups of 10+ students/children.
- Guided: $19 per student for pre-booked groups of 10+ with a Croc! Guide. Available to book during Exclusive Access for Schools sessions only.
A group is identified as 10+ students/children plus their supervising adults, attending together.
- School group (Prep – Year 12) Children’s group (children aged 5 – 15 years)
- Teachers and adult supervisors are FREE within our visit ratios. Extra adult supervisors are charged the discounted adult concession price. Required supervision ratio of adults to students: 1:3 for Prep, 1:5 for Years 1-6, 1:10 for Years 7-10, 1:15 for Years 11-12.
Schools experiencing socio-educational disadvantage (ICSEA below 1000) may be able to book discounted exhibition tickets.
Teacher Resources:
Comprehensive Croc! teacher resources and student activity sheets have been developed in collaboration with our exhibition partners, Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) and Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. Additional pre-visit activities can be accessed by visiting the Australian National Maritime Museum website.
Teacher resources include exhibition information, Australian Curriculum links, wayfinding and answers for student activities.
